About InCent-LGD...

India Centre for Lab grown Diamond (InCent-LGD) was established in Year 2023 at IIT Madras.
The mission of this center is to establish a National Centre for creation of state-of-the-art facilities for Lab Grown Diamond Technologies that enable process development and optimization of diamond growth using indigenously developed chemical vapour deposition (CVD) and high-pressure and high-temperature (HPHT) systems.
The Centre deal with indigenous development of (i) HPHT machines for growing diamond seeds/substrates and process development, (ii) CVD machines with a novel home-made, energy-efficient Solid State Microwave Generators (SSMG) (iii) recipe development, process optimization and efficient post-processing of the as-grown diamond, (iv) skill development through proper training in CVD and HPHT LGD growing process. A five-year research grant of Rs. 242.96 crores was announced in Union Budget 2023-2024, supported by Ministery of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India, after a joint determination of its capabilities by a joint committee of Government, export promotion council (GJEPC) and Industry representatives.  The center’s top-notch, cutting-edge facilities guarantee the quality of the LGD and the education of the youth. The outcome of this centre would make the technology available for more start ups, increase employment opportunities, boost exports of LGD thus play a significant role in fuelling India’s economic growth.

Message from our Principal Investigator

Keep up the hard work and most importantly enjoy the Research and Developmental work that you have been involved in. Team work always triumphs.

HPHT

High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) Method mimics the natural diamond growth producing high quality diamonds.

MPCVD

Microwave Plasma Chemical Vapor Deposition (MPCVD) method creates diamonds using carbon-rich gas, offering precision and purity.

Solid-State Microwave Generators

Developing indigenous Solid-State Microwave Generators for various applications, enhancing efficiency and performance.
